Ian McNally | Executive Director

A native Michigander, Ian got his start in politics during his time in college in Minnesota. After several years focused on issue-based advocacy, Ian returned home to work for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. Coming to Virginia in 2017 for the bellwether gubernatorial race, Ian has remained in Virginia politics, ranging from statewide Coordinated Campaigns in 2017, 2018, and 2020, to down-ballot candidates and initiatives across the Commonwealth. In 2019, Ian founded Rural GroundGame, which has since supported dozens of campaigns and committees develop the Democratic brand and build the Democratic bench in rural areas.

Lynlee Thorne | Political Director

Lynlee Thorne lives in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley on a small farm with her 2 young children and a menagerie of livestock. She has served as Chair of her local Democratic committee and as campaign staff for multiple local and statewide campaigns over that last 5 years, including multiple statewide coordinated campaigns and local races. Both farming and being a rural Democrat require a long-term commitment to hard work, perseverance, and cultivation of resilient communities, which Lynlee brings to her work with Rural GroundGame.
